Baikal IZH-18MH
Notes: This is the rifle variant of the IZH-18M shotgun. It has a shorter barrel than the shotgun variants at 23.5 inches, but the rifle cartridges make the range similar if not in excess of its shotgun variant. The operation of the rifle is similar to that of the shotgun, with a hinged breech that has several safeties, both automatic and manual, built in. The rifle variant does not, however, provide for fully automatic ejection, though the spent shells are partially extruded from the breech upon opening it so that the firer can grasp them.

Baikal IZH-94 Express
Notes: Basically an Express Rifle version of the IZH-94 and IZH-94P Combination Guns (see Russian Shotguns), the IZH-94 is a double over-and-under rifle designed to fire fairly large cartridges. Most of these rifles are made with both barrels firing the same caliber, but mixes of two calibers are also available upon special orders. Other than the two rifled barrels, the Express rifle has two more widely-spaced barrels (done mostly to allow the Express rifle and the Sever shotgun to use the same stocks). The Express has an adjustment screw at the end of the fore-end that allows the shooter to adjust where the rounds will strike relative to each other. The Express has twin triggers, but does not have the preset that the Sever does. Stocks are of beech or walnut at the buyer’s choice; the receiver and breech block are blued, while the barrels and other metalwork are of satin-finished metal.
Twilight 2000 Notes: This rifle does not exist in the Twilight 2000 timeline.

Izhevsk Strela-2
Notes: Though popular in the Soviet Union, the Strela-2 was rarely seen in the West until the 1960s. The Strela-2 has a set trigger. Though the Soviets claimed that the Strela-2 fired a proprietary 5.6mm rimfire cartridge of their own design, it was eventually revealed that the weapon fires standard .22 Long Rifle ammunition. The Strela-2 has a thumbhole stock, and the fore-end has an accessory rail. Variants include the SM-2 (also known as the CM-2), which is a beginner’s rifle with a shorter barrel and an adjustable trigger instead of the adjustable/set trigger system of the Strela-2. The SM-10 does in fact fire a proprietary cartridge, 5.6x22mm Rimfire. The Zenit-3 is the same rifle, enlarged to fire 7.62mm Nagant ammunition. All of these rifles are equipped with optical sights.
