CZ-712
Notes: Czech
shotguns are not well known in the world, but CZ-made shotguns are typically of
decent quality, comparable to their other firearms.
Strangely enough, though, the CZ-712 is not actually made in Ceska
Zbrojovkas factories; it is built in Turkey and sold largely in the US.
The CZ-712s receiver is built largely of light alloy, but the stock and
fore-end is made of high-quality Turkish walnut so the gun isnt too light.
The CZ-712 is gas-operated, and has an aiming rib above the barrel.
Several barrel lengths are available and two gauges. The action is wholly
contained in the receiver, allowing for considerable customization, particularly
in the stock.
The CZ-712 is
built on a light alloy receiver, and has a matte black hard chrome exterior
finish for the metalwork. A plug can be installed in the magazine where the law
requires it.
The CZ-12 ALS
(Adjustable Length Stock) has, as the name suggests, a sliding stock, though not
like an M-4s stock, This looks
like a standard stock, but it has an outer sleeve that slides in and out on an
inner sleeve. The cheekpiece can
also be adjusted to one of three heights by use of screws. The stock and
fore-end are synthetic; the metalwork has a matte black hard chrome finish.
The magazine tube is the same as on the CZ-912, making finding magazines
easy and allowing for the use of a magazine plug if required.
Atop the barrel is a ventilated sighting rib with a bead front sight. The
butt has a recoil pad.
The CZ-712
Utility is a shotgun that is just as it sounds simple, no frills, and
utilitarian in purpose, allowing for use as a field gun, home defense,
competition gun, as well as for fowling. It has a relatively short barrel
(though with a sighting rib), and the LOP is adjustable by use of spacers.
The CZ-912 is
basically the competition version of the Model 712, with a long barrel, sighting
rib, green glow rear aperture sight and front sight bead, and Turkish walnut
stock and fore-end. Metalwork
finish is Black Gloss Chrome. It has a thick rubber recoil pad on the butt and
comes with five screw-in choke tubes.
The Models 720
and 920 are 20-gauge versions of the Models 712 and 912.
Choices are more limited than on a Model 712.
The Model 720 Reduced Length has a shorter length of pull for teenagers
and smaller adults.
