Savage 24
Notes: This is
an over-and-under shotgun with an upper rifle barrel with various options for
caliber, and a lower shotgun barrel chambered for 20 Gauge.
The weapon is also drilled and tapped for a scope for use with the rifle
barrel. The rifle can be
disassembled to occupy a small space, with no part longer than 51 centimeters.

Savage Milano
Notes: The
Milano, though manufactured by FAIR in Italy, was built exclusively for Savage
and is marketed only from the US by Savage.
The Milano is an over-and under shotgun in several chamberings, and is
essentially a shotgun that is built with old-time styling but with modern
manufacturing techniques and with modern materials.
The furniture is
of dark Italian walnut with a thick rubber recoil pad on the butt, with the
nickel-chrome-molybdenum steel for the metalwork.
The bore and chamber are hard chromed.
The receiver has side plates with subtle raised etching, which extends to
the top and bottom of the receiver.
The external metalwork is deep blued.
The stock is fine checkered on the semi-pistol grip and the fore-end,
making for a good grip. The
interior of the 28-inch barrels are so finely chromed that, according to one
author, they “look like polished glass.”
The Milano is built to very high tolerances, especially in the
metal-to-wood joining. The barrels
are topped with a ventilated sighting rib, with a raised fiberoptic tube at the
front. The tang has both a manual
safety switch and a barrel selector; the shooter may elect to fire the top or
bottom barrel first, or both barrels simultaneously.
(If the shooter does this, add the recoil for both barrels together.)
Length of pull for the stock is neither very short nor very long, and
should suit most shooters. Though
the Milano is primarily meant for competition, it is equally adept at fowling,
though it is not really designed for throwing slugs (it can do so, however.
The barrels have Full Chokes, but also accept Briley interchangeable
choke tubes of any choke type (except for the .410 gauge version, which has to
be ordered with fixed chokes of either Full or Improved Cylinder).
The trigger unit has a conventional as well as a set trigger, both
gold-finished (I have not been able to find out if the triggers are gold-plated
or merely gold in color). The
conventional trigger breaks cleanly and has no creep at all.
The Milano is considered one of the best shotguns of its type on the
market today, and yet (in real life) compares favorably in price with other
shotguns of its type.

Spartan SPR-100
Notes: Spartan
Gunworks, a division of Remington Arms, was formed specifically to import
weapons from Baikal in Russia which were specifically made by Baikal for
Remington. The SPR-100 is one of
these weapons; it is a series of single-shot shotguns.
They are basic, inexpensive weapons made with all-steel metalwork,
chrome-lined barrels and breeches to reduce wear, checkered walnut
pistol-grip-wrist stocks, selective ejectors (empty shells are ejected; unfired
shells are merely extracted). The
safeties are automatic and work when the gun is breeched and there is also a
manual cross-bolt type. The SPR-100
Field has no sighting rib, but does have a rear sight designed for quick
engagements and a front bead sight.
The hammer is internal, but there is a cocking indicator.
The standard barrels have chokes which are fixed; 12 and 20 gauge models
have Modified chokes, while .410 gauge models have Improved Modified chokes.
However, there is an option for barrels which accept interchangeable
chokes (which are not interchangeable with Remington interchangeable choke
tubes). 12 gauge models have a
28-inch barrel, 20 gauge and .410 gauge models have a 26” barrel, and there is a
SPR-100 Field Youth model which has a 24-inch barrel and a rubber recoil pad on
the butt.
The SPR-100
Nickel is very similar to the SPR-100 Field, but comes only .410 gauge, and has
a 26” barrel with a ventilated sighting rib.
There is also a SPR-100 Youth model with a 24” barrel; unlike the SPE-100
Field Youth, the Nickel Youth does not have a recoil pad on the butt.
Again, the standard barrels have fixed chokes of Improved Modified, but
optional barrels allow the use of interchangeable chokes.
Both also have a front sight bead, and get their “Nickel” name from the
nickel-plated breech block. They do
have a manual safety of the cross-bolt type.
The SPR-100
Sporting is designed for adults, and there is no Youth version.
There is a 12 gauge version with a 29.5” barrel, and a 20 gauge model
with a 28.5” barrel. Both are
equipped with SC-4 interchangeable chokes of Cylindrical, Improved Cylinder,
Modified, and Full. (These are also
the interchangeable chokes which are optional for the other SPR-100 shotguns).
They have a ventilated sighting rib with a front bead sight.
The barrel is ported to reduce recoil.
The stock has a raised cheekpiece, and the standard Spartan cross bolt
safety, internal hammer automatic breeching safety, and cocking indicator.
Twilight 2000
Notes: These shotguns are not available in the Twilight 2000 timeline.
Merc 2000 Notes:
These shotguns are available, but not sold by Spartan/Remington – they are sold
by the Russians under the Baikal name.

Spartan SPR-210
Notes: Like the
SPR-100, the SPR-210 is a basic sort of shotgun, this time a side-by-side
double-barreled shotgun. Though the
real-world costs of most side-by-side shotguns has risen dramatically in recent
years, the SPR-210 is designed to be affordable, much less expensive in
real-world terms than the average side-by-side.
Construction is much like the SPR-100, with a checkered walnut stock and
fore-end with a thick rubber recoil pad on the butt, largely steel metalwork, a
deeply-blued breech block and barrel cluster (which is also formed into a
monobloc), and automatic selective ejectors.
The SPR-210, however, has box lock action and a single selective trigger,
with a barrel selector on the neck of the stock.
There is no manual safety, but there is an automatic tang safety.
The barrels are chrome-lined, as is the breech.
For the SPR-210 Field, 12 gauge and 16 gauge versions use 28-inch
barrels, while other gauges use 26-inch barrels.
Chokes for the 12, 16, and 20-gauge models are interchangeable, with the
choices being Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full; the 28 gauge model has
fixed chokes with one barrel using Modified choke and one that uses Improved
Cylinder; and the .410 gauge also has fixed chokes with one being Improved
Modified and one being Full. The
SPR-210 Field has neither sights nor a sighting rib.
The SPR-210
Nickel is nearly identical, but there is no 16 gauge version available and the
breech block is finished in polished nickel.
The 12 gauge model comes in both 26-inch and 28-inch barrel versions, and
the 12 and 20 gauge models use SC-4 instead of SC-3 interchangeable chokes, with
Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full chokes being available.
The 28 gauge versions have the same fixed chokes as the SPR-210 Field.
The SPR-210
Cowboy Action comes only in 12 and 20 gauge versions, with 20-inch barrels.
It is basically a shorter version of the SPR-210 Field, but also uses
SC-4 interchangeable chokes, and has only extractors instead of the automatic
selective ejectors of other SP-210 models.
It also has the important ability (to its intended users, Cowboy Action
shooters) of being able to use both blackpowder and modern propellant rounds.
The SPR-220
Blued is also similar to the SPR-210 Field, but has a double trigger and
extractors instead of an automatic selective ejector.
It is an extremely basic gun with a 12 gauge barrel of 28 inches and a 20
gauge barrel of 26 inches, and uses SC-3 interchangeable chokes.
The SPR-220 Cowboy action is the SPR-220 equivalent of the SPR-210 Cowboy
Action; it is, however, quite different, with one 12 gauge version having true
external hammers (and one without them).
The version without double external hammers uses fixed gauges for both
barrels of Cylindrical or SC-4 interchangeable chokes, while the others use only
SC-4 interchangeable chokes. The
receiver can be had either blued or in polished nickel.
All have double triggers.
Barrel lengths for all are 20 inches.
The 12 gauge version with external hammer and those without them are
identical for game purposes.

Spartan SPR-310
Notes: Built to
somewhat less, well, spartan standards than the SPR-100 or SPR-210, the SPR-310
is an over-and-under double-barreled shotgun built of basically the same types
of materials as the other Spartan Shotguns, but at a higher quality level.
The SPR-310 Field uses a deep blued receiver and barrel cluster, with the
barrels formed into a monobloc. The
barrels are chrome-lined to reduce wear.
It has a single selective trigger with the barrel selector on the neck of
the stock. The breech block uses a
box lock, and has automatic selective ejectors.
The SPR-310 Field has an automatic tang safety, but no manual safety.
The top barrel has a ventilated sighting rib.
Barrel lengths are the same as for the SPR-210 Field above, as are the
chokes. The stock has a thick
rubber recoil pad.
The SPR-310
Nickel is similar to the SPR-310 Field, but the 12 and 20 gauge versions are
available in two barrel lengths.
12, 16, and 20 gauge models use SC-4 interchangeable chokes; the 28 gauge
version has fixed chokes of Improved Cylinder for one barrel and Modified for
the other; and the .410 gauge has fixed chokes of Improved Modified and Full.
The breech block is coated with polished nickel.
The SPR-310
Sporting also has a polished-nickel receiver, and also polished stainless
steel-coated barrels. Those barrels
are chrome-lined, and ported to reduce recoil, in addition to a rubber recoil
pad. The top barrel has a wide
ventilated sighting rib with a front sight rib.
The checkering is hand-cut, and the fore-end has a palm swell to increase
the shooter’s grip on the weapon.
Barrels are 29.5 inches for the 12 gauge model and 28.5 inches for the 20 gauge
model.
Twilight 2000

TriStar Hunter EX
Notes: The
TriStar line of shotguns are in real-life cost very reasonable in price, yet
offer exceptional value. The Hunter
EX is one of these shotguns, and is an over-and-under hunting shotgun which can
also be used for competition. The
Field Hunter and Hunter models come with wooden furniture, while the Hunter EX
Synthetic has polymer furniture.
The primary difference between the Hunter and Field Hunter are the chamberings –
the Hunter comes in a few more chamberings than the Field Hunter; the Field
Hunter also uses a higher grade of wood.
The Synthetic comes in only one chambering and one barrel length (28
inches). The Hunter EX line is
designed exclusively for magnum shells (except for the 28-gauge chambering), and
the stock is therefore equipped with a ventilated rubber recoil pad (except on
the Synthetic). Side plates on the
Field Hunter and Hunter models are bright silver, while the entire Synthetic
version is a dull gray in color.
Barrels on the Field Hunter and Hunter are Parkerized.
All have single triggers, with a barrel selector as part of the safety
switch atop the tang. The field
hunter comes with automatic shell ejectors; the Hunter and Synthetic use
automatic extractors. All three can
use screw-in choke tubes; they can use a Skeet, Improved Cylinder, Modified, or
improved Modified choke tube along with their natural choke of Full.
The primary advantage of the Synthetic version is its weather resistance
and lighter weight. Except as noted above, the Field Hunter is identical to the
Hunter in game terms.

TTN International M-1878 Coach Gun
Notes: TTN
International is a fairly new company producing and importing replicas for
cowboy action shooting. One of
these is a replica of the Colt Model 1878 scattergun.
TTN’s version is actually manufactured in China, but sold exclusively
through TTN. The M-1878 has blued
barrels in a side-by-side configuration, 20 inches long with no choke
whatsoever, like the original. The
barrels have a raised non-reflective rib between them; this rib has a single
brass bead which serves as the front sight.
The M-1878 has twin rebounding hammers and no other safety devices are
present. It also has double
triggers. The stock is of American
black walnut, uncheckered and with a Prince of Wales-type wrist.
The finish of the stock is hand-rubbed oil, the barrels and the portion
in front of the side plates are polished blue, and the rest is color-case
hardened. It is heavy for its size
and type, but fairly stable in firing.
The action closes solidly.
The M-1878 is equally capable of using blackpowder or modern propellants.
Twilight 2000
Notes: This shotgun does not exist in the Twilight 2000 timeline.
