Infiniti G20 1991-96

This is the low-end member of the Infiniti line, which does not make it inexpensive or cheaply made by any means.  The amenities are many, and about the only bad feature is the relatively underpowered 140-horsepower I-4 engine.  Wind, road, engine, and environmental noise are small and the interior very quiet, even when the engine is at full RPM or the car at high speed.  The ride is soft, and handling firm, even in tight, high-speed turns.  The interior is spacious, with plenty of room even for big or tall adults.  The dashboard is well organized, with gauges clearly marked and controls easy to reach, except for the heater and vent controls being mounted too low.  The trunk is long and flat, with lots of space.

Infiniti I30 1996-99

This is the next step up in the Infiniti line, much more luxurious, with things like digital readouts, voice-activated controls, and other such refinements.  It uses a much more powerful 190-horsepower V-6 engine with lots of torque, and has a firmer suspension than the G20. The I30 is big, but handles like a sports car, but noise is somewhat greater.  The ride difference between the front and rear seats is markedly less comfortable in the rear seats. The headrests on the front seats are rather large and can restrict rearward vision for shorter drivers.  The trunk is large, and the rear seats can be folded down to increase cargo space.

Infiniti J30 1993-97

This is Infiniti's mid-priced model, falling in between the G20 and I30 in price, options, amenities, and power.  The J30 is powered by a 210-horsepower V-6; as the J30 is light in weight and the engine has considerable torque, acceleration is quick and power is excellent. Since it is an Infiniti, it is a very refined car, with a lot of luxuries for its price, and a good-power engine, excellent handling, and a nice ride.  Unfortunately, due to its short wheelbase, the space in the rear seat is lacking for adults.  The J30 had some notoriety in the US as one of the most stolen automobiles before the war; however, most post-November thieves tend to go for the SUVs.  It also has a surprisingly small amount of trunk space.

Infiniti Q45 1994-96

This is one of Infiniti's bread and butter cars, a luxury car.  One of the first things you notice about the car is the extremely smooth-running and quiet 278-horsepower V-8 engine, barely heard or felt when on and idling.  Pickup is fast, and the automatic transmission supplied (the Q45 only comes with automatic transmission), shifts smoothly and with no hesitation.  Unfortunately, the huge, powerful engine consumes a lot of fuel, and premium fuel is required for that.  Traction control can be switched on and off, and it is required for good handling on wet or slick pavement.  On dry pavement, the handling rivals sports cars, and braking is sure and fast.  The Q45 is big on the outside, but unfortunately that does not translate into ample interior or trunk dimensions.  There is barely any space under the front seats for the rear passengers' feet.

Infiniti Q45 1997-00

This is everything the earlier models of the Q45 are, but more luxury.  The engine is 12 horsepower less powerful, but the new Q45 is also nearly 73 kg lighter so performance is not too adversely affected.  The engine is slightly more fuel economical, but still requires premium fuel.  The handling is competent, but not as agile as the prior models, and the steering has less road feel; however, the ride has been called a "magic carpet" feel.  An optional Touring suspension is available that greatly increases handling with only a small hit on ride.  The 1997 Q45 retains the quiet engine and ride of earlier models, and improves on it.  The interior is roomier, but this is at the expense of trunk space.

Infiniti QX4 1997-00

This is Inifiniti's entry into the SUV market.  It is a luxury SUV, meaning it seems more like a luxury car on a heavy chassis than a truck.  The ride is very car-like (but not quite up to that of a luxury car like the Q45), and handling is also more like a car than a truck.  The 168-horsepower V-6 engine is a little small and underpowered, and that really shows when worked hard, as bursts of power are difficult to produce and the engine roars loudly in takeoff and passing.  The automatic transmission is not up to Infiniti's usual standards, sometimes hesitating to downshift.  Fuel mileage is rather poor.  Rear seat space can be tight.  The rear seat can be folded away easily to make room for large cargoes.  Towing capacity is 1.7 tons.
