Hunter Offroad MOTiV
Notes: the MOTiV
was built on the base of a Chevrolet 1976 heavy-duty truck; the finished vehicle
looks much more like oversized dune/Off-Road 4x4 buggy then the truck it is
based on. It is a one-off, though
Hunter Offroad may make others.
(I have added a few features in the armament department from the original
design, making it more T2K-ish. The
MOTiV was designed as a test vehicle for the Arizona Highway Patrol; whether or
not is they will order others is currently unknown.
(Hunter Offroad, rumor says, hopes for military sales and sales to
serious offroaders.)
The new vehicle
has a 350-horsepower engine, with a manual transmission. The doors, front
quarter, the door pillar, the rear pillar, and the rear space have sides made
from thick Kevlar; the engine compartment also has the same protection,
Windows, however, are wide open.
The body is surrounded by a complete roll bar package, including the
passenger section, the underside, and the engine, both to provide protection and
reinforcement. The suspension is
raised and the front wheel track is widened to increase stability and off-road
performance; it enables the MOTiV to climb steep rocky surfaces as well as large
rocks and holes on the ground. At
the top of the front of the rollbar cage on each side are high-intensity LED
lights for use in complete darkness; conventional vehicle lights are also
mounted at the front. On the front
is another LED light bar using red, white, and blue elements, with an IR light
bar below it. On the back is another set of red/white/blue LED lights. On the
back are another pair of LED lights. On each side, about halfway down the
rollbars, are IR lights for use with NODs,
The tires are designed for off-road vehicles, and the wheels are aluminum
alloy to decrease weight. The
bumper has a winch in it, able to pull 9.5 tons, and designed to run at high
speed. In the back behind the cab
is a "Vehicle Blowout Kit, carrying basic tools, wheeled vehicle tools, and a
small drill with a selection of drilling bits and a larger selection of
screwdriver bits. A wire cutter and
bolt cutter are also present.
(These are included in the price of the vehicle.) The box doubles as a seat for
the rear gunner. There are a plethora of racks for personal weapons, with two in
the front and two in the back.
The vehicle has
four padded bucket seats, with four-point harnesses. To decrease weight, much of
the floor and sides is actually wire mech. (Clearly, there is no protection from
mines and IEDs. The Arizona Highway
Patrol did not need to worry about that.)

Notes: Though
based on a real proposed vehicle, the M648 does not actually exist in real life.
Twilight 2000
Notes: This vehicle is along the same lines as the M548, but built on the
chassis of the Bradley and MLRS.
This vehicle was developed specifically for the needs of US forces in the Gulf
and delivery of them did not start until late 1995, so they are rarer than the
M548. Most of them were used as
ammunition carriers, especially for MLRS and LARS formations.
It is believed that the only other country that received these vehicles
other than the United States was Israel, and they got few of them.
Like the M548, there are doors on either side of the cab, with the engine
compartment to the rear of that.
The cargo area is accessed by a watertight ramp.
On top of the all-metal cab, there is a mount for a weapon, but no weapon
is provided with the vehicle.
