Notes: This is South Africa’s largest recovery truck, based on a Spanish heavy truck chassis. It was designed to recover light and medium vehicles over almost any sort of terrain, and carry enough spare parts and tools to effect emergency repairs. The first modification made to the chassis was to replace the cab with an armored and mine resistant one; apply the HF armor value to attacks on the cab from any direction, and double that value against mines. The crane has a lifting capability of 12.5 tons at a reach of 4 meters. Under the crane is a winch with a capacity of 20 tons and 100 meters of cable. The auxiliary winch has a capacity of 500 kg, but its main role is to assist in deployment of the main winch. Towing capacity is 48 tons or 15 tons if one end of the vehicle must be raised off the ground to tow it. The Skimmel carries a wide assortment to tools and equipment, including basic, wheeled vehicle, tracked vehicle, small arms, and heavy ordinance tools; a welding and cutting set, an air compressor, a tow bar, chock blocks, and a selection of cables, ropes, and chains.

Notes: This is a South African recovery vehicle based on the chassis of the SAMIL 100 truck. The Withings has the normal cab replaced with an armored, mine-resistant cab; the HF armor value should be applied to fire at the cab from all directions, except against mines, where this armor value should be doubled. The Withings is fitted with a crane with a capacity of 8 tons. The winch cable may be led to the front or rear and has a capacity of 15 tons, or double that with block and tackle; the basic (15-ton) capacity may also be added to the crane’s lifting power for very heavy lifting operations. Equipment carried includes the basic, cables, ropes, and chains, chock blocks for two vehicles, basic and wheeled vehicle tools, excavating tools, and air compressor, and two adjustable spotlights.
