STK LSV
Notes: The LSV
(Light Strike Vehicle) is another one of the fast attack-type vehicles that seem
to be proliferating of late. The
LSV is originally an American design called the Flyer, but the design was bought
by the Flyer group in Australia before in turn being bought out by ST Kinetics
of Singapore. The LSV is like most
such vehicles, combining a dune buggy-like body and frame with modern materials
and construction techniques to produce a lightweight but strong vehicle.
A powerful 110-horsepower diesel engine allows good mobility yet
reasonable fuel consumption. The
LSV has a semiautomatic transmission; the driver chooses a speed range, but does
not need to constantly shift gears. Typical weapons mounts include one for light
weapons, one for heavy weapons, plus a rear-mounted rocket launcher, recoilless
rifle, or ATGM launcher.
The LSV Mk II
bears a number of improvements over the original LSV, The Mk II has a more
powerful 136-horsepower engine, along with a beefed-up suspension and an
improved space frame allowing for a higher load, and more crew can be carried.
The driver of the Mk II is located in the center front of the vehicle,
which allows for passengers on both sides of him and they can provide a wide arc
of forward fire from mounted weapons. Three more crew may be seated to the rear
of these front seats.
